Recently, Lady Gaga is having her Asia concert tour and been subject to many issues. Her concert was first banned in Indonesia, a country with a big portion of Muslim community. According to some religious authorities in Indonesia, they don’t want Lady Gaga to have a concert because of her different interpretation of faith which is satanic. They also don’t like how she supports homosexuality which is also not supported in Islamic communities.

Lady Gaga’s concert in South Korea was not banned, but is now limited to audiences 18 years old and above. Protesters in Korea like Alliance for Sound Culture In Sexuality said that her songs promote unhealthy sex culture through lewd lyrics and performances.

 Now in our country, which is the Philippines, some Christian groups like Biblemode Youth Philippines group wants to ban her concert because they said her songs like Judas is blasphemous and is offensive to christian faith.

I just visited our church awhile ago and listened to the priest’s homily. He mentioned about Lady Gaga’s concert getting issues because he said that her song Judas is about mocking Jesus and her wanting a relationship with Judas.

Seriously, I think people are giving bad interpretations of her and they’re not open-minded. I’m not going to her concert though, because I’m broke. Elegant LOL.

I like Lady Gaga because of her songs…it’s unique and it’s catchy. I like her songs because she uses biblical symbolism for her songs which only few uses.

I don’t really like the start of the song Judas where she sings Juda-Judaas…it’s really irritating but the chorus is really catchy, ok…but for me, I think Judas is the song where all the people can relate to. And the lyrics that I really appreciate:

“Jesus is my virtue and judas is the demon I cling to“ 

All of us loves Jesus or if you’re not a Christian, you love being good. But there are times we are forced to be in the dark for our own reasons, we have struggles to overcome to get back in the light.

Our life is like Judas, we struggle everyday to be good…even though there are times that we betray ourselves and hurt ourselves.

Lady Gaga…is just Gaga…meaning she’s weird (Gaga means weird/stupid in the Philippines), she’s not a devil or if you want her to be a devil, at least she has kindness inside of her….or maybe some of you will say: “Devils can be kind too…etc so they can influence us in doing bad things…etc”

Her kindness is genuine and I don’t think she’s using it as a front. If you think her songs can hypnotize people into doing bad things, then you’re wrong. I listen to her songs but I’m not hypnotized to listen to it every minute, or getting me to do bad things. If people do bad things and is a Lady Gaga fan, it’s their choice not hers.

I want to explain further but I think it’s getting too long. It’s just using biblical reference as an art, it’s not blasphemy or demonizing. Sometimes, we have to look deeper than what’s on the outside. She’s weird yes, but she’s not evil. 

If you don’t like her then don’t. But at least let her fans see her. And let her wear those costumes, If it’s bad then let her get the consequence, what’s important is, you’re not the one wearing those.
